Former presidential candidate Mohammed Abduba Dida has taken a swipe at Thirdway Alliance party leader Ekuru Aukot following the collapse of his Punguza Mizigo Bill.
Dida said there was no need to conduct an expensive referendum, arguing the Constitution can be reviewed through the courts.
The Alliance for Real Change boss reminded Aukot that he was among the experts who made the 2010 Constitution and told him the supreme law is not 'love letters which people keep on rewriting'.
In a tweet on Thursday, Dida dismissed the debate on amending the Constitution, noting he was even opposed to the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) which is being fronted by President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.
"Constitution sio (isn't) love letters that you wake up and write, one after the other. Our stand remains the same, NO to Punguza Mzinga and NO to BBI. We SHALL NOT SUPPORT ANYTHING that suggests spending billions to correct mistakes that our judiciary could easily correct," he posted.
Dida was responding after Aukot accused him of being ignorant of the contents of the Constitution despite joining the race to the State House in the last two general elections.
"I thought you wanted to be president of Kenya in 2013 and 2017! What constitution were you to implement when you display so much ignorance of the very constitution you could have taken oath to protect and defend? Pathetic!" tweeted the Thirdway Alliance boss.
The Punguza Mizigo Bill has already been rejected in 31 County Assemblies and only Uasin Gishu has passed it.
