The police officer attached to Ol Karia police post was on duty when his body was found floating in a pool of water in the geothermal rich area of Ol Karia.

The body of the officer was discovered by his colleagues who were also on duty and rushed him to Olkaria’s health centre where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Naivasha OCPD Samuel Waweru who confirmed the incident said they are yet to know what caused the death of the officer.

Waweru said the body of the officer was taken to the mortuary for postmortem to determine the cause of death adding that investigations into the incident are ongoing.

“We can confirm that one of our officers died in Olkaria while and an inquest file has been opened up as part of investigations,” said the OCPD as quoted.

Speaking to standardmeda.co.ke, a worker in the area who did not want to be named said the officer had been seen in the area washing his face in the pool that traps hot stream.

The worker who said the deceased was alone at the time of the incident suspects he was ailing.

“He was not that medically fit and we suspect that he slipped and fell into the pool and there was no one to assist him,” said the worker.
