Two weeks ago, Ruto supporters in Rift Valley staged demonstrations against Keter and 'banned' him from Nandi and Uasin Gishu counties until he says sorry to Ruto.

This is after a video emerged online where Keter was recorded urging President Uhuru Kenyatta to bring down all corrupt people in his government including those seeking the presidency in 2022.

But speaking to a local vernacular radio on Thursday, the outspoken MP swallowed humble pie and said sorry to Ruto who many believed that the remarks were directed at him.

"I stand by my remarks on my unwavering support for President Uhuru in his fight against corruption. I apologise to anybody who might have felt offended by my statement," he said during an interview with Kass FM.

Keter, however, maintained he was quoted out of context as he did not mention Ruto's name.

In another rare moment, the legislator asked the Kalenjins to rally behind one candidate and reach out to other communities in order to have a realistic chance of clinching power in the next polls.

"We should not create enemies. We need other people in this journey," he said.

Keter's change of tune is an indication he was ready to reconcile with Ruto and subsequently endorse his bid.
