Ms. Maribe, who was recently promoted from a reporter to prime time news anchor, was arrested in September in connection with Monica Kimani's murder.

Managing Director Wachira Waruru hailed Ms. Maribe as a 'disciplined' employee, adding that the court should grant her bail since she's ready to clear her name.

“Having engaged her for the last six years, and assessing her performance, we hereby vouch for her character and recommend for her admission to bail,” he said.

Waruru said that Maribe has taken leave “to attend to personal issues" and further recommended that she be released as she will not jump bail.

"Due to her exceptional performance she has been appointed to the position of Friday's prime time news anchor on the station," he said.

"She joined the company as a reporter on Citizen Television and was later promoted to the position of senior reporter on the same station," said Wachira, adding that she has succeeded in her duties.

Initially, social media was awash with claims that the company had given Ms. Maribe a compulsory paid leave, a claim that Wachira terms as 'propaganda'.

High Court Judge James Wakiaga will on October 30th decide whether or not Maribe will be granted bail. She is at Lang'ata Women prison.

In her sworn affidavits, Maribe seems to disown her fiance Joseph Irungu, who is the prime suspect in the gruesome murder of Ms. Kimani.

Instead, she says, prosecutors arrested her because of her 'then existing love with Joseph Irungu', an indication that she has since moved on.

And in one of the confessions, she said, Irungu came to her house the material day crying 'I am sorry, I love you' before attempting suicide.
