In a letter sent by ODM Nairobi Chairman George Aladwa to Nairobi County Assembly Minority Leader David Mberia, the party raised concerns about the loyalty of the members.

The party goes ahead to warn MCAs against opposing her position over the current crisis facing the Nairobi leadership, reports the Star.

“We, as ODM leadership in Nairobi county are concerned that our members in the Assembly have resorted to the reckless pursuit of self-aggrandisement at the expense of the general public welfare and disregard for the ODM party position, ” reads part of the letter dated December 27 that was quoted by the Star.

The letter adds, “You are hereby instructed to rein in the wayward members with immediate effect. Kindly, note that if the affected members do not stop immediately, the party shall without further notice commence disciplinary processes against them.”

Aladwa, who also serves as the Makadara MP warns that the behavior will be punished if anyone is implicated.

“The ODM County Coordinating Committee has observed the behaviour of Members of the Nairobi County Assembly elected on the Party ticket or Party list with interest. You are further instructed to remind members that Party sponsorship is a privilege that can be withheld to loyalty and discipline,” notes the ODM chair in the letter.

Nairobi County is staring at a crisis following barring of Governor Mike Sonko from accessing the offices, a move which literally causes a vacuum.

The ODM party is keen to sponsor an impeachment motion but the plans were delayed after Speaker Beatrice Elachi failed to call for a special sitting.
