In the video clip that was captured by a passenger on a different ferry, the ship is seen approaching the ferry at the crossing.

Shocked passengers and onlookers aboard the ferry in which the video was recorded are heard wailing and praying.

The gigantic vessel however managed to avoid colliding with the ferry much to the relief of the passengers in the ferry where the video was being recorded.

Kenya Ferry Services (KFS) admitted that the incident happened but said it happened early this month and not on Wednesday, August 21, as claimed.

The management of KFS said that coxswains are highly trained and qualified as he assured ferry users of their safety.

“Our attention is drawn to a video clip on social media today (Wednesday) depicting a near miss situation. We would like to inform the ferry users that the incident happened on the morning of August 3. During this incident the vessels were in communication.”

“There is no cause for alarm. It is important to note that all over the world vessels are guided by the rule of the road where every mariner has a duty to take all necessary actions in avoiding collisions at all costs,” said the management of KFS as quoted by nation.co.ke.
