The Department of Criminal Investigation(DCI) sleuths on Friday night arrested a GSU officer alongside two civilians in Mombasa for abducting a 36-year-old female Safaricom employee in a suspected loan recovery operation.
"CONSTABLE Kelvin KOMORA; a Baringo based GSU Officer alongside two Civilians were last night arrested by @DCI_Kenya Detectives in Mombasa after Abducting a 36-Yr-Old @SafaricomPLC employee who works in Malindi, in a suspected Loan recovery mission," reads a tweet by DCI.
Constable Kelvin Komora, a Baringo based GSU Officer and Mr Omar Mwanguze are reported to have been working in cahoots with Ms Grace Wairimu to recover an overdue loan of Sh500,000 the victim owed to her.
"Allegedly, the woman victim had taken a Ksh. 500K loan from one of her abductors Ms Grace WAIRIMU but failed to meet the agreed repayment deadline," adds a statement by the DCI.
The three are said to have ambushed the victim and forced her into a private car before driving off from Malindi.
Acting after receipt of a report of a possible abduction, DCI confirms that its detectives pursued a Nissan vehicle they had boarded and cornered the three forcing them to drive into Central Police Station in Mombasa.
They managed to rescue the victim and arrest the perpetrators.
"Victim rescued & the three placed in custody as further investigations continue," reads a communication from the DCI.
