Uasin Gishu county government is set to implement strategies on countering violent extremism.
In his speech during counter Violence Extremism meeting, Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor, Daniel Chemo noted that there was a need to put in place measures to help counter the monster since it threatens democracy.
The deputy governor also highlighted negative effects on economic growth and deprival of constitutional rights as other negative impacts of violent extremism.
Speaking on the causes, he cited economic,political and social matters as the root causes of violent extremism.
Chemno appealed to all stakeholders to ensure the measures to counter Violent Extremism in Uasin Gishu county are hasten up.
The deputy County boss assured the residents and businesses people that the county has put in place measures to ensure their safety as they tour every part of the County.
“The County has put in place measures that guarantee all of the safety to move and do their businesses across the entire county without fear of being attacked or threatened by anyone," noted Chemno.
He also urged the public at large to help fight the vice by reporting any cases of violence around them to the nearest police station. This, he said would help in ensuring peace prevails in the society.
"...I, therefore, urge all the public to report any case of violence to the nearest police posts so as to ensure peaceful coexistence,"he added as recorded in Uasin Gishu county government page.
