Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has reacted to the discovery of bodies believed to be of the family members of the major general from Kayole.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, Sonko said that the incident is not only unfortunate but also inhuman, condemning Major Peter Mugure who he believed to have murdered the family pending investigations into the matter.
"Yani the stupid soldier from Nanyuki murdered his own wife and his two kids. He just directed the police to a shallow grave where he buried them. Exhumation of the bodies is currently ongoing. May soldier Peter Mugure rot in hell. May he lack peace for the rest of his life," he said.
The police found the bodies at Makaburini in Thingithu area with the kids stacked on top of their soldier's estranged lover.
Police believe the victims are Joyce Syombua and her two children Prince Michael and Shanice Maua.
Detectives from the office of the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Friday arrested Mugure over the disappearance of his estranged partner and two children.
He had been asked to pay for the upkeep of the children after doctors conducted DNA tests and proved the paternity of the kids. Mugure, who is based at the Laikipia Airbase, was grilled following the disappearance of the kids.
The suspect said that he had picked the family from the main bus stage but could not account for their whereabouts. He also said that the family had spent the night at the Airbase before they went missing.
Reports indicate that they remained at the station until 3 pm before proceeding to Kirimara Springs Hotel.
