An elected MCA has said Migori Governor Okoth Obado's continued detention in prison is political.
Samuel Angasa, Boochi Borabu MCA said Obado's rivals are behind his detention in prison.
"Obado's constitutional rights are being violated just because he opposed ODM party. Those behind his detention should know he's not guilty until the case is heard and determined," he said.
He faulted ODM party leadership for continued silence about Obado's arrest and detention.
The ward representative urged High court judge Jesse Lessit handling Obado's murder case to stop being used by Obado's rivals to intimidate and blackmail the governor who was elected to serve the people of Migori.
"Lessit must know Obado is a leader mandated to serve the people. I am urging her to grant Obado bail so that he can continue discharging his duties as a governor," he said.
He condemned NASA leader Raila Odinga alleged dictatorship in Orange Democratic November party.
"Raila must accept competition in his ODM party and stop blackmailing anyone who is out to oppose him," he added
