Gladys Mueni, a mother of two from Garissa town is appealing for good Samaritans to help her raise Sh250,000 to cater to her son's medical bill.
While addressing the media, Mueni revealed that her 2-year-old son, Benjamin Musyoka is supposed to undergo a second operation after the first one failed and she was asked to pay Sh250,000, the money that she doesn’t have.
Mueni said that they first sought treatment at the Garissa referral hospital but were referred to Kenyatta National Hospital after it was revealed that her 2-year-old son had incontinence urine problem, a condition that affects the bladder.
Medics at Kenyatta hospital referred them again to Kijabe AIC where their son was operated on but she says the operation failed despite spending Ksh136,000.
Mueni is now crying for help saying that life has become difficult on her side as she is an independent woman who is a sole breadwinner to her family after her husband abandoned her after realizing that their son was not improving.
“Life has become extremely difficult for us. I take care of Benjamin on a 24-hour basis and I can’t go out to fend for my family after my husband abandoned us when we needed him most,” Mueni said.
“We used his (husband) NHIF card to pay for the Sh.136,000 operation. It’s a double tragedy after we were displaced by the floods. Life has become even difficult,” she added.
