Deputy President William Ruto will on Saturday tour his South Rift turf amid ongoing evictions of settlers from the Mau complex.
According to the itinerary shared by Secretary for Innovation, Digital and Diaspora Communication in the Office of the President Dennis Itumbi, Ruto will start his trip at Kipkelion West where he shall launch a road.
Dr Ruto will proceed to neighbouring Sigogwet/Soin Constituency for the launching of a road and fundraising for a bodaboda group.
Ruto will also tour Bomet County, which is largely affected by the Mau Forest evictions.
Over 60,000 families are expected out of Mau, with Environment CS Keriako Tobiko saying that a number of them have voluntarily left.
“The settlers left voluntarily. The exercise was done in a humane and judicious manner and we expect by the end of today to recover the whole of Maasai Mau water tower, all this has been done without firing a bullet, clobbering anyone or even burning houses,” Tobiko said.
The minister had said that any politician implicated will be dealt with as an individual.
"We will be monitoring those evicted, any attempt to return will be meet with the full force of the law," he said.
Despite the debate over the plight of the settlers, Dr Ruto has remained tight-lipped over the issue, raising questions about his general view about it.
Belgut MP Nelson Koech, Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot and Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen have been vocal about the Mau Forest evictions.
