English side Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has offered hope to Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama.
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s game against Crystal Palace, Pochettino said Wanyama remains in his plans as the club focuses on challenging for Premier League and Champions League among other titles this season.
“Victor Wanyama is in my plans. Christian is in my plans. Before, I understood that they were in a difficult situation and, of course, we tried to help them, to help the club, to do their business. When it’s one player [who wants to leave], then OK. But when it’s a few players, who start to make it difficult to create a good dynamic, a positive dynamic… now we need to start to win games. Be refocused and who is not refocused is going to be out,” said the Manager as quoted by the Guardian.
Wanyama was expected to join Belgian side Club Brugge before the closure of European transfer window early this month.
The deal fell through, an indication that the midfielder will have to fight for position in the Spurs crowded midfield.
He joined the London side in 2016 from rivals Southampton with his current deal expected to end in 2021.
The Kenyan international has played 67 games for Spurs and scored 6 goals.
