Deputy President William Ruto has yet again renewed attacks on opposition leader Raila Odinga, directly linking him to the current fiascos within Jubilee party.
The ruling party is hugely divided, with a section of leaders leaning towards President Uhuru Kenyatta accusing the DP of allegedly undermining the president.
But on Saturday in Embu, Dr Ruto lashed at Mr Odinga, accusing him of engineering the crisis within the Jubilee party. It was not the first time he was linking Raila to Jubilee predicaments.
"Huyu mtu wa vitandawili (this man of proverbs) is trying to destroy Jubilee, thinking that by doing so he will ascend to power. I want to tell him that Jubilee is built on a strong foundation and he will not succeed in bringing it down," he said.
Instead, the DP asked Mr Odinga to focus on revamping the ODM party, which he claimed that is in a serious crisis than the wrangles within Jubilee.
"Mr Odinga should sort out the mess in his party instead of intruding into Jubilee which is focussing on development," he posed.
He accused Mr Odinga and his ilk of lecturing Jubilee leaders on how to run the party.
"It is ridiculous that vitandwili man is teaching us how to manage our party affairs when his ODM house is in a crisis," he said in reference to Mr Odinga.
Dr Ruto has been struggling to stamp his authority on Jubilee party, with a number of senior members among them Maina Kamanda openly defying him.
The DP started his career in KANU party before joining ODM in 2007. In 2012, he briefly joined UDM before crossing over to URP. The URP party folded in 2017 to pave way for Jubilee.
Ever since reconciliation between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga, the DP has been walking in isolation, often blaming Odinga for his political predicaments.
