In a social media post where he posted a photo of his wife, McCarter asked online users who have been piling pressure on him to find a Kenyan lover, to stop troubling him since he was happily married.

The diplomat described his wife, Victoria, as the 'most beautiful and courageous woman', adding that he doesn't intend to find another one.

"Standing next to the most beautiful and courageous woman I know. So for all you jokers who keep bringing up the silly idea that I might find another (Kenyan) wife. Sorry, Victoria is all I can handle and all I could ever want," he tweeted on Thursday.

McCarter and Victoria have two children, Zachary and Austin. They lost their daughter, Amber, in 2006 due to heroin overdose. Amber was 26 at the time of her death.

Before he was appointed ambassador by US President Donald Trump, McCarter and his wife had worked in Kenya for more than 30 years.

The former Illinois State Senator, is an 'elder' in Tharaka Nithi County where his family-founded Each1Feed1 International Charity has been working for decades.
