Both Gor Mahia coach Hassan Oktay and coach Christian Gross are optimistic that they will bag three points, and are upbeat for the game.

This is not the first time the two teams are meeting. Gor Mahia first met Zamalek in 1984 in a Champions League match where Zamalek edged Gor Mahia by a goal to nill.

The two teams met again in 1988 in CAF Cup match where the first leg was played in Nairobi, Gor triumphing by a solitary goal, before the home side lost 2-0 away in Egypt.

In 1994, the two teams met again in Champions League match first leg played in Nairobi where the two teams drew one all and 2nd leg played in Egypt, Zamalek thrashing Gor Mahia by four goals to nill.

Gor Mahia and Zamalek are in group D together with Hussein Dey of Algeria and Atletico Petroleos of Angola.
