A 25-year old bodaboda rider committed suicide after he allegedly caught his long-term girlfriend with a new boyfriend in Mwongori on Sunday.
Witnesses said the rider, Clinton Ongeri, had gone to check on his girlfriend who lives at a rented house in the area when he busted her with another man in bed.
“Ongeri came to visit his girlfriend and caught her with another man in bed. He picked a quarrel with her after the man had escaped through the window before ongeri committed suicide ,” said Erick Mokandu.
According to Mokandu, the rider and his girlfriend were to get married in August this year. Area assistant chief Job Nyamosi said the rider was the one paying rent for the lady.
“It is unfortunate that the rider left his girlfriend in the house, rushed to his home about 5 kilometers away, picked a rope which he used to hang himself,” he said.
The chief said the rider’s lifeless body was discovered by the same lady who had gone to apologize to him.
He said the deceased body was moved to Nyamira County Referral hospital mortuary.
