Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has called upon Kenyans to give their best towards making Kenya a better place to live in.
As he joined fellow Kenyans in celebrating Heroes Day, popularly known as Mashujaa Day on Sunday, the former Premier called for dedication among Kenyans.
He stressed on the need for the entire Kenyan fraternity to honour heroes who came before them by doing more for the country, and help in building a more united republic.
"On this Mashujaa Day, I call upon fellow Kenyans to dedicate themselves to doing more for our country as we honour our nation's heroes and heroines who have made Kenya great and inspired many to do the same. Let’s all step up to the task of building a united," he tweeted.
Raila was also among notable politicians and leaders who joined other Kenyans in celebrating the day at the Mama Ngina Waterfront in Mombasa on Sunday.
There, in his speech, he called for unity among Kenyans, in honour of Kenyans who Kenyans who fought for the independence of Kenya.
"Our independence heroes fought for the Republic of Kenya and that’s why we should remain united,” he had said.
The event was presided over by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.
