Deputy President (DP) William Ruto on Sunday appealed to Jubilee political factions to unite and ensure President Uhuru Kenyatta completes his second and final term on a high note.
Speaking at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Kiharu, Murang’a County, Ruto said Jubilee party's unity is critical for the development of the nation before 2022.
Ruto, who is considered one of the potential successors of President Kenyatta, said the cracks in Jubilee are likely to derail the plans of the government.
He further noted that the president's greatest wish is to fulfill the Big Four Agenda before he paves way for a new president.
“I want to urge Kenyans and especially Jubilee leaders to stop factional politics. We are one team, we have one leader, we have one manifesto, we only have one big 4 agenda… So let us unite and work together in fulfilling the pledges President Uhuru Kenyatta made to Kenyans,” said Ruto, as quoted by Citizen Digital.
The ruling Jubilee party currently has two groups namely; Kieleweke and Tangatanga.
Kieleweke supports the handshake between the president and former Premier Raila Odinga, while Tangatanga is made up of leaders drumming support for Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.
Members of the two groups have been having fierce exchanges on various happenings in the country.
