While issuing a brief on the council's and ministry's preparedness for the forthcoming national examinations, Knec's chairperson George Magoah and the Education Permanent Secretary Belio Kipsang' revealed that at least 30 schools and several school principals were being investigated for examinations irregularities committed in the past even as it steps up measures to curb the vice this year.

 Here are schools being investigated:

1. Garissa High school - Garissa County

2. Kapenguria Boys' - West Pokot County

3. Marakwet Boys' - Elgeyo Marakwet County

On Thursday, Garissa branch Knut secretary Abdirizak Hussein issued that Garissa High school should not be investigated since it has not been producing As as like other schools and so should not be classified as a hotspot.

Cases of cheating in national examinations have been reported in the past in Garissa.

Kapenguria and Marakwet Boys' high schools, according to Knec have been demanding their school heads to corporate with them as was the case in the past years.

The twin schools in the past one month witnessed unrests over what the students said was the unwillingness of the principals to help them 'cheat' in the exams.
