Kakamega Governor who is the council's of governors chairman Wycliffe Oparanya has been ranked the best performing governor in Kenya with 87 per cent score according to the report by the Consortium Researchers on Governance.
The study which was conducted between January 21st and February 20th 2019 also ranked Kirinyaga County governor Ann Waiguru the second best performing with 84 per cent with Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana coming third with 83 per cent.
The report also indicates the bottom three performing governors; Mutahi Kahiga of Nyeri, Cornel Rasanga of Siaya and Moses Kasaine of Samburu with a score of 34, 33 and 32 per cent respectively.
The study focused on delivery of devolved governments services such as health care, County Integrated Development Plan(CIPD), budgeting, public participation and governors' job approval according to the researcher's team leader Charles Mc'Olonde during the report presentation in Nairobi on Friday.
Mr Charles reported that popular governors like Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho had high approval ratings, however, they had low scores on devolved functions.
Joho had 51 per cent, ranking 30th.
The report also reveals recent events such as the handshake, nurses strike, Council of governors elections formed the basis citizens used when rating their governors.
6891 people who were over 18 years were interviewed face to face and using questionnaires during the process according to Mr Mc'Olonde.
