The clock is ticking and the arsenal that will be used and spent during campaigns for the 2022 general elections are being assembled.
There is no doubt that Deputy President William Ruto will be on the ballot- this is going by his political activity since the Jubilee administration was sworn in for a second term in office.
Besides Ruto, the only other leaders who have expressed interest for the poll (presidential) are Governor Hassan Joho (Mombasa), Wycliffe Oparanya (Kakamega) and Amason Kingi (Kilifi). Others are Dr Alfred Mutua (Machakos) and former Meru Governor Peter Munya.
However, there are claims that Baringo Senator Gideon Moi will also plunge himself into the presidential arena and vie for the country's top seat.
But what capacity does Gideon have to dismantle Ruto's campaign strategies and in subsequently win the poll?
Gideon does not match Ruto. Whereas Kenyans have known Ruto for his combative politics where he tackles critics and opponents head-on, Gideon, on the other hand, is soft.
He is laid back and since the conclusion of the October 26th repeat poll, he has never held a well-attended rally to prove that he actually has the energy to challenge Ruto.
The Senator, unlike Ruto, who has also been traversing the country launching projects and holding fundraisers, has also been only oscillating between Nairobi and his father's Kabarak home in Nakuru County.
Kenyans would expect that if he indeed intends to contest for the country's top seat, he would be out charming voters to gauge the political wave even at a time elections are still four ears away.
By the time Gideon wakes up from his slumber to kick off proper campaigns, the exercise on Ruto's camp would almost be over.
The DP by then would have zoned the country, knowing which region to conduct which type of campaigns- depending on the support on the ground.
