Pwani University has issued new opening dates for the upcoming 2019/2020 academic year.
Through an internal memo, the university has changed opening dates following the planned country-wide census which is set the take place starting from 24th August night.
"Following the planned countrywide CENSUS excessive, all students are hereby informed that dates have been rescheduled as follow," read the university's Internal Memo dated August13, 2019.
The new opening dates;
1. First year students will be reporting on 2nd of September 2019 and are expected to start classes as soon as possible.
2. Continuing student are expected to report in the university one week after first years have reported, which will be on 9th September.
The memo also indicated that students will sit their end of semester examinations on December between 9th and 20th while those with supplementary exams will be expected to sit them on 2nd September.
The university's student chairman Fikirini Jacobs while sharing the memo on social media said the changes were arrived at after a consultative meeting with the university's administration
"Cdes and friends, today morning in a consultative meeting with the Vice-Chancellor, I did present an appeal to have the almanac rescheduled to fit some important things that affect the students. This was on top of our mails last week," said the student leader through part of his Facebook post
