Five West Pokot county officials were on Tuesday arraigned in an Eldoret court facing 18 counts of graft related charges.
Appearing before Eldoret Chief Magistrate Charles Obulutsa, the five who were arrested on Monday denied all the charges leveled against them.
Speaking to the press at the court premises on Tuesday, lawyer Peter Wanyama representing the accused parties, noted that his clients have been accused of failing to follow laid down procedures in the purchase of over 5,000 bags of maize.
"The accused are being charged with a corruption case which relates to irregular purchase of 5,000 bags without following the right procurement process," he said.
The five who were arraigned in court include; County Secretary Dr Michael Ptoo Parklea, Procurement Officer Alice Chepkosgei, and other county officials including; Titus Mayech, Elvis Rotich, and Joseph Lolemtum.
"They will be remanded for 7 days awaiting a determination of whether they will be released on bond or not," he added.
The ruling on the application as to whether they will be granted bond will be delivered on Monday.
The five will be detained at the Eldoret GK Prison remand awaiting ruling.
