In adverts on local dailies, Governor Anyang' Nyong'o has announced vacancies for 70 senior positions, which, according to holders, is an open demonstration of their pending sacking.

Some of the positions advertised include; county secretary and deputy, and several in the county public service board, causing fears among their holders.

It has been established that most of the holders came to power during former governor Jack Ranguma's regime, and the county boss has been on a journey to replace them.

Among them is county secretary Olang'o Onudi who, however, says that he will be seeking questions on why his position his being declared vacant yet he is still the holder.

“I have been away, and I also saw the advertisement on the papers. There are certain areas which I will also need to seek clarification from the board, so that I can talk authoritatively on the issue," he said as quoted by Standard.

Civil society activists have vowed to move to court to oppose the recruitment, arguing that it has not been included in the budget.

However, finance CEC Nelly Achar has dismissed fears that the needed Sh1.5 billion needed for the recruitment will be hard to raise.

He has also noted that the salary of county officials will be carefully considered to match their performance at work.

"With the tight contracts, we hope people will work harder so that the pay is commensurate to the work done,” he said.
