A man from Nyahururu Town stabbed his lover on Sunday night and attempted to commit suicide in a suspected case of love gone sour.
Nyahururu Sub-County Police Commander Geoffrey Mayiek who confirmed the incident said the man used a kitchen knife to stab his lover, Sharon Wamuyu in the stomach.
Mayiek said they have arrested the suspect who had attempted to commit suicide after stabbing his lover.
He said that the suspect who is being held at Nyahururu Police Station attempted to hang himself with a rope but the rope could not hold his weight.
“The suspect suffered slight bruises on the neck,” said Mayiek.
Neighbours according to Mayiek came to Wamuyu's rescue after calling for help during the 9 pm incident.
He said neighbours who responded to her cries managed to break the door and found her bleeding on the floor and she was rushed to St Benedict Hospital in Nyahururu where she is receiving treatment.
“The woman was found lying on the floor bleeding heavily. She had been stabbed on her stomach with a kitchen knife and also had wounds on her wrist,” he added.
