Vocal retired priest Reverend Timothy Njoya has appealed to President Uhuru Kenyatta to reconcile with his deputy William Ruto.
He urged the two Jubilee Party leaders to bury the hatchet and warned should they fail to make peace, the country could plunge into civil war just like neighbouring South Sudan.
"I warn President Uhuru and Deputy President Ruto of Kenya that their personality clashes are dangerous. The civil war in South Sudan started because of similar personality clashes between President Salva Kiir and Deputy President Rick Mashar. Please reconcile!" Njoya tweeted on Friday night.
The retired cleric with the Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) volunteered to mediate between the two country's most powerful leaders and challenged the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) task force to also intervene and bring the President and his deputy together.
"I volunteer myself to apply my marriage counselling experience and skills to rebuild bridges between Uhuru and Ruto as a model of how to build other bridges. The BBI team should suspend telling Kenyans how to build bridges but re-building bridges between Uhuru and Ruto," he said.
The theologian and human rights activist further asked former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka and Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho to act as peacemakers and reunite the duo.
"Joho AND Kalonzo: Put your country first and your party interests second to Reconcile Uhuru and Ruto to create the necessary peace for the 2022 elections," Njoya added.
