Central Bank of Kenya Governor Patrick Njoroge has opened about his childhood and walk to success.
In an exclusive interview with The Star on Sunday, Njoroge admitted that his childhood was not very tough because his parents were professionals.
He says he never went to bed at any one time on an empty stomach. The banker, however, regrets that his nieces and nephews coaxed him to become a football fanatic noting that he was a staunch supporter of Manchester United but is no longer the case.
On the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) loan Njoroge said that it almost cost him the job at the Treasury after he realised that records showed he was yet to clear the loan.
“I had paid everything and got a thank you letter from the Ministry of Education, but 20 years later when applying for governor job, I was told I owed some money,” he said.
Njoroge said that there are several things that have shaped his life in the past years reading being among them.
The Alliance High School alumni said that he will spend this Christmas season reading books as he has always done and relaxing with the rest of the family members.
