The controversy surrounding the rejection of the sugar report continued apace Wednesday as Nakuru MP Jayne Kihara appeared before the Powers and Privileges Committee.
Kihara told the committee that Duale had told MPs to reject the report that had been tabled in Parliament for debate as those named in it were Uhuru's allies.
She said that she had been approached by MP David Gikaria on behalf of Duale to rally against the report but she rejected the overtures.
“He approached me and told me the Majority Leader had told him to rally Nakuru County MPs to reject the report as those mentioned were the President’s people. I told the MP off, insisting that the President did not elect me but the people of Naivasha," she said.
Her claims add another twist to the sugar report saga.
Duale has long denied any wrongdoing in the rejection of the report that sought to unravel the mystery around the importation of sugar said to be laced with Mercury.
The report was rejected amid allegations of bribery.
