The latest leader to fire shots in his direction has been Bahati lawmaker Kimani Ngunjiri who has reduced his remarks to a 'mad man's narrative'.

Speaking during the Maragoli Cultural Festival in Mbale, Vihiga,on Wednesday, Murathe added that Ruto should not expect backing from President Uhuru Kenyatta's Central Kenya bedrock.

"We do not have any agreement with him that we will back him in 2022. If they had such a deal with the President that thats their own issue," Murathe said.

But in a phone interview with Tach FM early Friday, the Jubilee Member of Parliament said that Murathe's remarks were uncalled for and hold no water.

"Tusimsikize mtu anayeleta mambo ya kilevi katika siasa zetu. Yeye alikuwa wapi tulipokuwa tunajipanga? Hatukumwona popote kwa hivyo atulie.

(These are a drunk man's remarks, Kenyans should not pay any attention to him. He has always been missing in action and cannot suddenly emerge with threats)," said Ngunjiri.

Murathe's remarks have also attracted attacks from Ruto's allies as well as a section of Uhuru's supporters in support of the DP's candidature.
