Speaking to Hivisasa during their meeting on Wednesday, the group's members revealed that they came together in 2013 and decided to form a group starting with merry go rounds.

"We started this group in 2013 with merry go rounds. we are happy today because we have received support and we promise we will work hard and empower more other women," said Jane, a member.

Addressing the group with 200 members, Lumumba said that he will help in educating and empowering women in Kisii County on economic empowerment and poverty reduction in rural areas.

"We are focused on empowering women at the grassroots. They have expressed willingness to be supported. Not only women but also we will support the youth and people living with disabilities," added Lumumba.

So far the group has bought 200 chairs, one tent, a Public Adress system, utensils and have managed to give quality education to their children.

"Women in the rural areas play a key role in putting food on the table and that is why we have come up to empower them so that they can also provide for their families," stated James Orito who had accompanied the county secretary.

The group has appealed to other women to come up with such groups to help themselves financially.
