ODM leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday led various leaders in the first ministerial meeting of LAPPSET countries.
In a tweet, the African Union Representative noted that this move will help the country greatly.
''Convened the first ministerial meeting of LAPPSET countries aimed at establishing a representative Steering Committee as an umbrella body to coordinate it's implementation. Our nations will not be the same once the program takes off as a regional and multinational enterprise,'' said Raila Odinga.
Lamu Port-South Sudan-Ethiopia-Transport (LAPSSET) is a transport and infrastructure project in Kenya that will ease transportation with neighbouring countries such as Ethiopia and Tanzania among others.
The project is the second transport corridor after Mombasa - Uganda transport corridor.
This corridor connects Mombasa to Uganda through Nairobi and most of the Northern Rift areas.
Even though the LAPSSET project is still underway, most of its infrastructure projects have been completed. Some of the already completed infrastructure include a police station, harbour office in Lamu and lengthening of the Lamu airport runway.
Raila has been greatly involved into the government's projects ever since their famous handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta. Raila leads first ministerial meeting of LAPPSET countries
