In yet another hard tackle, Kutuny sensationally claimed that Ruto's home county, Uasin Gishu, is the poorest in North Rift region.

"We shall ask him hard questions. It won't be easy as he thinks. He can't tell us that Maize farming is out of fashion yet in my 40 and above years, it's been feeding people."

Last week, Kutuny, who has been pushing for Ruto's bid, joined forces with rebel MPs Silas Tiren of Moiben and Alfred Keter of Nandi Hills where they accused the DP of allegedly orchastrating maize farming debacles.

And on Thursday, a tough talking Kutuny insisted that 2022 campaigns have superceded service delivery in the North Rift region.

"He is telling us of 2022 instead of addressing maize farming crisis. His county is among the poorest in Kenya. Let him fix that."

A meeting chaired by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Ruto on Thursday, resolved that farmers be paid ShSh2,300 per 90 kg bag, a move that irked farmers.

Mr Kutuny has been pushing for Sh3,600 and the latest declaration may put him at loggerheads with government.
