Nominated MP Maina Kamanda has reportedly been forced to record a statement with detectives over online attacks against Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.
Kamanda said his political rivals have opened Facebook accounts in his name which is been used to attack other leaders on social media.
Speaking to an online news outlet, Kamanda said he has nothing to do with the account which has seen him face-off with Sonko in an online spat.
"As we speak, the account has sent different negative comments directed to leaders especially the Nairobi Governor (Mike Sonko) and I call upon the police to hasten the investigations and bring the culprits to book," said Kamanda.
According to a statement recorded at DCI by his personal assistant Stanley Kimure on his behalf, Kamanda said he does not have a Facebook account.
"The messages have used abusive languages directed to some leaders thereby giving him sleepless nights and a lot of discomfort. It's very sad when my political enemies try to employ dirty tactics in terms of politics that ends up misleading even the mainstream media. I now leave it to the police to find the perpetrators of this ugly act," Kamanda said.
