On Friday September 21 Kibera Member of Parliament Ken Okoth, through a letter asked the National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi to legalise use of bhang in the country.
He argued through the letter that all those in custody in connection with marijuana be released and their charges dropped.
“The proposed Bill seeks to ensure that there is regulation for growth and safe use of marijuana and hemp including the registration of growers of growers, producers, manufacturers and users with special focus on protection of children/minors from illicit use just as we do with tobacco and alcohol,” reads part of the letter.
However, residents seized this opportunity to attack the MP while others applauded him for his bold move.
