Taking to Twitter on Wednesday and reacting to Reuters story the lawyer, who at once represented the brothers, took issue with the sentencing of one of the brothers, claiming that it's an injustice.

He said that the sentence came after the Akasha's were 'kidnapped' from the country.

"This will never be justice. It never was. We are now applauding people who came into our country, broke our laws. Kidnapped Kenyans just to get their rocks off. Two days before a ruling in our own court. Justice??, " the lawyer's tweet on Saturday read.

The United States of America law enforcement authorities said that they had overwhelming evidence that implicated the brothers in smuggling drugs into the country.

They called on Kenya to hand them over so that they could undergo a trial. The trial has been one of the longest-running trials involving Kenyans abroad.

Ibrahim Akasha received the reduced 23-year sentence after pleading guilty.

“I would like to take the time to apologize to the families who were destroyed due to my dealings in drugs,” he told the US court as quoted by Reuters.
