Before the 2013 general election, little was known about this man. His name is Timothy Wanyonyi Wetangula.

Today, Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula's younger brother is an icon in Nairobi politics.

His election as Westlands MP in 2013 officially launched his colourful political career in Nairobi, the centre of the country's politics. By so doing, he inherited one of the most iconic political seats in Nairobi. His predecessor Fred Gumo, had held the seat for 19  uninterrupted years.

Now in his second term, Wanyonyi is one of the senior politicians in Nairobi. In the run up to the 2017 election, Wanyonyi's encounter with then ODM presidential candidate Raila Odinga would change his life forever.

Recruited into Raila's campaign team, Wanyonyi would later find himself at City Hall having been nominated as a Councillor in the defunct City Council. 

With this political platform, he never looked back.Using political tricks learnt from his mentor Raila Odinga, Wanyonyi went on to build one of the most successful political careers in the City.

His loyalty to the ODM leader has further help to cement his name in Nairobi politics. At one point, Raila endorsed him for Nairobi Governor come the next general election saying that the lawmaker's development record speaks for itself.

It may not be an easy ride for him should he go for Nairobi Governor seat, but it is not impossible.Having spent his entire political life in Nairobi, the Punjab University-trained lawyer can take on anyone in Nairobi's politics. After all, he is Timothy Wanyonyi.
