The mall remains closed despite the completion of it's construction six years ago, which has been blamed on ongoing investigations regarding possible exaggeration of the cost  used to put up the state of the art facility.

Consequently, Mohammed is expected to appear before the Senate Committee on Devolution and Intergovernmental Relations on June 30, where he is expected to face tough  questions over the same, reports the Nation.

This comes amid pushes by local leaders to have the facility opened and be passed to the people, a push led by Kisumu Central lawmaker Fred Ouda who has presented a motion to the National Assembly seeking a speedy probe.

Mohammed will be required to weigh-in on the contradicting reports from the Auditor General who has given the facility a clean bill of health.

At the same time, the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) is claiming that the cost questionably shot up from Sh2.5 billion to Sh4.2 billion.

Located at the Mamboleo Junction, the mall has the capacity of raking in Sh300 million per year in revenue.
