The medics have established serious measures to ensure that Kenyans remain safe, including an intensified screening on incomers, especially from neighbouring Uganda.

The officials have as well set aside an isolated ward at the Busia County Referral Hospital, from where cases suspected to be of Ebola will be addressed pending medication.

Another ward has been established at the Malaba Dispensary, where patients showing Ebola symptoms will be quarantined, says Senior Public Health Officer Sospeter Omollo.

"If any such cases are there, the officers are banking on the screening checkpoints that have been set up at the active border post entrance points," Omollo told the Citizen Digital on Saturday

Health officials have also directed Kenyans to use designated border points while interacting with persons from the suspect countries who might be trying to access the country.

The Democratic Republic of Congo has so far recorded 1,800 deaths caused by the Ebola virus.

On June 17, there was an Ebola scare after a woman from Malaba was admitted at the Kericho County Referral Hospital showing symptoms of the disease.

Health Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki and Kericho governor Paul Chepkwony later came out to assure Kenyans that all was well, after tests for the virus tested negative.
