It was all pomp and colour Tuesday evening as winning schools bagged awards in the ongoing National Drama and Film Festival at Kibabii University, Bungoma.

Kianjai Circuit school from Meru county triumphed in the Play category outclassing major primary schools in the country when they were declared winners. They also took the second position in the choral verse category.

Namakhele Primary School from Bungoma won the creative cultural dance which took the audience in amusement. They beat other well-recognised schools at the category levels.

The Makueni School from Makueni scooped five awards when the results were finally released on Tuesday evening while Garissa School from Garissa County scooped the national trophy at the National Drama events.

Education PS Dr Belio Kipsang is expected to the opening of the National Gala while Education CS Prof George Magoha will close the gala ceremony on Thursday 11th.

The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) are this year's title sponsors with the theme; promoting moral responsibility among the young people.

Kibabii University played host to the 60th National Drama and Film Festivals with next year's events being held at the coastal region.

The Executive Secretary of Kenya National Drama and Film Festivals, James Indimuli congratulated the winners saying they have a responsibility to change the society positively.
