The Deputy Head of State is under fire from a section of opposition leaders who have termed his trips early campaigns ahead of his 2022 presidential bid.

But speaking when he presided over the official opening of the Ndia Technical Institute in Muranga on Saturday, he defended his moves.

Ruto maintained that he is simply helping President Uhuru Kenyatta realize his development agenda.

He fired shots at the people he accused of detracting him, warning them of unspecified consequences should they come between him and his routine developmental tours.

"I will not allow anyone to halt the President’s projects and if you try to stop the government’s work, I will deal with you.

Jubilee’s priority is the construction of roads and ensuring electricity connection, but other things will follow at the right time,” he is quoted by the Nation.

He added that he will take full blame from Kenyans should the government fail to deliver, having sworn to aid the President in his operations.

He called upon the group to allow him time to work, noting that they, unlike him, have nothing to lose.

"If the promises we made as a Jubilee government are not fulfilled, I will be the first person to be put to task because I am the one who took oath to assist the President.

These other people did not take that oath, so let them give me time to work,” he added.

He was accompanied by a host of leaders including area Governor Anne Waiguru and Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki.
