The residents led by former Kithimani councillor Gregory Mwenze decried unending frustration in their quest to get birth certificates for their children.

They said that the certificates had delayed despite them applying during the Rapid results initiative launched in July this year.

Nonetheless, every time they went to the offices they were always advised to come another day.

"This is a public office and we are demanding to know why the certificates are taking longer because we are tired of waiting," said Mwenze as the area Officer commanding Station tried calming the crowd.

The residents accused the registrar of persons at the office Mwaniki Wanjiru of corruption this calling for his transfer.

Joseph Ng'ang'a, Yatta assistant county commissioner told the press that it's true residents have been thronging the registrar's office over delayed birth certificates for some time now.

Ng'ang'a urged residents not to resort to demos whenever they want to get answers and instead follow the right channels in addressing issues.

He urged them to be calm stating that their issue will be solved soon.
