Deputy President William Ruto's Gusii team surfaced in Nyamira on Sunday after days of slowed activities across Kisii and Nyamira Counties.
For the better part of this year, the team under Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi and North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko pitched tent at Magombo in Nyamira.
Last week, the team visited Karen where they held two separate meetings in which those attending were not allowed to take photos within the compound.
A source said that Dr Ruto cautioned them against posting what they discussed thus the decision to make the trip a top secret.
In Magombo, the team rallied residents to support Dr Ruto, insisting that he is the right candidate to take over from President Uhuru Kenyatta.
"He has always supported you at the time of need. For us to reward him, we must stand with him him in 2022. He's the proper candidate for the seat," said Shadrack Mose.
North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko, lashed at Governor John Nyagarama, who has been leading Pro-Matiang'i campaigns in the region.
"I have worked with that Mzee for over four years. He is never straight. Infact, if there is a super conman, then Nyagarama is one," he said.
But Woman Representative Jerusha Momanyi, who has since ditched Tanga Tanga team, asked locals to back Dr Matiang'i, who is also keen to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
"The president elevated Dr Matiang'i and as Abagusii, we should stand with him. He is there for all of us. It's time we supported one of our own," she said.
