Speaking when he appeared before the Parliamentary Committee on Education on Thursday, Magoha said his ministry has observed that some institutions of higher learning still offer unapproved courses despite the government warning them against the same.

He said the Commission for University Education has been very clear on courses yet to be approved but some universities have ignored the directive.

The Prof said the courses are not only a waste of time, but also effort on the part of students as they seek to reach their dreams in life.

He admitted that there are still loopholes in the education sector, which has affected quality.

Magoha noted that his office is putting in place stringent measures to ensure universities  no longer offer unapproved courses for the sake of the general public.

“I know for sure that there are universities who sit down decide to offer this course, they start teaching it without involving the Commission for University Education or regulator,” said Prof Magoha, as quoted by Citizen Digital.

The Education committee chaired by Julius Melly asked Magoha to put his house in order as soon as possible after the revelation.
