Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi has challenged the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to conduct a free and fair election in the coming Kibra constituency by-election.
Addressing a press in Kibra on Sunday, Mudavadi urged the Wafula Chebukati-led commission to ensure that the will of Kibra residents is reflected in the polls, which are scheduled for November 7.
According to Mudavadi, IEBC is at its lowest and this is the opportunity to prove otherwise.
"What we all want is a free and fair election. An election that will truly reflect the will of the people of Kibra and the IEBC knows that their credibility is at its lowest. So it is important that the IEBC rises above any manipulation," the ANC leader said in a video shared on YouTube.
ANC party candidate Eliud Owalo on his part urged his competitors to adhere to their agreement so as to ensure that the election process remains clear and fair.
"As candidates we have signed a code of conduct which we have sworn to abide by. From where I see it, I believe gone are the days when voters were going to vote you because of money," Owalo said.
The Kibra mini-poll has attracted 20 candidates.
The Kibra parliamentary seat fell vacant in July this year when it's former occupant Ken Okoth succumbed to cancer.
