ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru has weighed in on claims that he met with other cabinet secretaries to plot the assassination of the Deputy President Dr William Ruto.
Speaking in Embu on Friday in Swahili and Kikuyu, Mr Mucheru rubbished the claims, saying that the meeting that he has been having with other cabinet secretaries was all about development.
"I read in the papers and heard on TV people wondering whether we are meeting for ICT and not agriculture. Have you heard, ICT too has big things. It is helping everybody. Is there someone who doesn't have network? Nilisoma kwa gazeti na nikaskia hata kwa TV, wanauliza lakini hawa watu wanakutana mambo ya ICT na hawakutani mambo ya agriculture. Mumeskia, ICT pia iko na mambo kubwa. Inasaidia kila mtu. Kuna mtu hana network hapa, simu yake? Hiyo ni maendeleo, " Joe Mucheru said. (Video 0:00-1:17)
Joe Mucheru was alleged to have met at the La Mada Hotel alongside Cycily Kariuki and Peter Munya to flesh out a plan of assassinating DP Ruto.
He said that they were being fought because of their development agenda.
"You are hearing us being fought that we are meeting to discuss Mount Kenya issues. The only thing we are discussing is development, nothing else. I won't say anything else about that issue.
