Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i took his 'gather all scatter none' strategy campaign to his Borabu backyard even as talks about his possibility in 2022 race gained momentum.
For the first time in as many months, Matiang'i shared platform with Borabu MP Ben Momanyi, who has also declared interest in Nyamira gubernatorial seat.
Although he's yet to declare his interest, Matiang'i is reaching out to professionals especially teachers to drive his agenda.
"As teachers, you have a vital role in governance. Our country can proper if your roles are executed well," he told a gathering at Menyenya.
Sources say that he's using well net worked teachers to pursue his agenda, despite claims that he could be balancing whether to run for Nyamira or Kisii gubernatorial seats.
At the function, Matiang'i insited that he's ready to implement President Uhuru Kenyatta's agenda, further raising eyebrows on his relationship with DP William Ruto.
"The president means well for us and it's important that we help him achieve his dreams for this nation. That's what I want us to do."
In recent weeks, Matiang'i has often snubbed Mr. Ruto, who has toured the larger Gusii region for at least five times since May.
Also expected to join Matiang'i in the race is ODM Treasurer Timothy Bosire, who served in Kitutu Masaba as MP from 2013 to 2017.
