Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has insisted that Migingo Island is in Kenya and not in the neighboring country, Uganda.
Matiang'i said he is not going to leave anything to chance as his ministry works around the clock to beef up security in the controversial island.
"Migingo is in the Kenya and not in Uganda as people think. My ministry is doing everything possible to ensure the neighboring country doesn't take the Island," he noted.
The Cabinet secretary warned Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni against sending police officers to arrest Kenyans fishermen operating at the Island.
"Museveni should go slow on Migingo because I am not going to spare his officers harassing Kenya fishermen at the Island. It is time we must tell people the truth that Migingo is in kenya," he added.
He urged politicians to stop politicizing the matter, adding that whoever who will be found will be dealt with in accordance to the law.
The Former Education minister assured that more police officers will be deployed to beef up security at the Island to ensure no Uganda police officers crosses over to Kenya to arrest Kenyan fishermen.
He was speaking on Monday at Kereri Girls High school in Kisii County.
