Deputy President William Ruto on Sunday used powerful and colourful words to congratulate Eliud Kipchoge who beat odds to win in the 2018 BMW Berlin Marathon men's race.
Kipchoge set a new record after clocking 2:01:40. The last record was held by Dennis Kimetto who clocked 2:02:57 in 2014.
In an address to the press minutes after his win, Kipchoge said he was optimistic of clinching a win in the marathon. "I always say Berlin forever, I will come back again."
Ruto in a tweet moments after Kipchoge bagged Kenya it glorious win in the prestigious marathon, said it was a show of “stamina and will power”.
"A show of strength, stamina, willpower as @EliudKipchoge produces a masterclass in long distance running to smash world record at #BerlinMarathon in a time of 2:01:40. Powerful, phenomenal display from an impeccable athlete, a legend. Amos Kipruto, Wilson Kipsang finish 2nd, 3rd," tweeted the DP.
He also congratulated Gladys Cherono who set a new record in the women’s marathon after clocking 2:18:11.

President Uhuru Kenyatta had earlier congratulated Kipchoge on his win.
