President Uhuru Kenyatta has asked Kenyan parents to pass good values to their children.
Speaking during the launch of Young African Work Program on Thursday, Uhuru said that most parents in the country concentrate on wealth creation and forget about their children.
He reminded parents that children are the future leaders and they need guidance. He challenged parents to nurture their children so that they can realise their potential at the end of the day.
Uhuru also said that it is saddening to see that we have lost the values of the family.
“I think we have lost that sense of family and grounding that some of us had the advantage of having, we have become too individualistic, materialistic and a lot of our children are losing hope because of the kind of environment they are growing in,” he said, as quoted by Standard.
The head of State, who is completing his second and final term in office, also said that his government is committed to transforming the lives of youths in the country. He said that the government has good plans for the youths.
He also challenged the youth to pursue different career options instead of lamenting over lack of employment. The President further challenged parents to invest in the youth.
